RELIGIOUS WEDDING CEREMONY

Aloha! Welcome To Maui…

We are all gathered here on this beautiful island of Maui,
Today’s Date___________ …
to share and celebrate the union of

Groom   and   Bride,

who come together here today to begin a new and exciting life together.

Who gives this woman to be married to this man?

Before we begin… I would like to invite everyone to take a moment to relax…  Take a deep breath….. And behold the beauty that surrounds us…  we are so blessed…

Maui is a very special place, and this is a very special day… ….your “most” special day!

Today…  is not just the
“First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life”….

Today…  is the  “Very First Day”    of your Marriage!

I would like to begin with a phrase in Hawaiian…

O Maui   Ka Mokupuni    O Na Moe'uhane…

aia no       ke aloha       i ka lewa.

Ka  pili  aloha      ka  po'ai       o na  komo

he ola  hou       e ho'o    ka'ana

In English this means…

Oh Maui…  Island Of Dreams…  Love is in the air!
Romance…  Circle of rings…  A brand new life to share!

Opening Prayer  (optional)

Please join me in our opening prayer…

O gracious and ever-loving God…

You have created us male and female in your image!

Look mercifully upon these two people who come to you seeking your blessing…

Lord…  Assist them with your grace…

that with true fidelity and steadfast love…

they may honor and keep…

the promises and vows they make here today.

Amen!

Exchange of Leis:

Groom   and   Bride,

Here in Hawaii…  we exchange flower leis signifying
our open hearts and love for one another.

These flowers are intertwined and carefully bonded together.

This is a reflection of your love and aloha for each other.

As you exchange these leis, you will now begin to weave your own lives together, just as the flowers of the lei are intertwined.

The beautiful blossoms of the lei only last a few days. This is to remind you to take your marriage one day at a time, for life is both very precious and fragile.

Each day that you are together…  let your marriage and your lives be filled with the beauty and grace of these fragile flowers.

Now… in Hawaii, we have a wonderful tradition…

That when you present someone a lei…

you also give them a kiss, one on each cheek!

Ceremony:

Groom   and   Bride,

The two of you have come here to start a new beginning in your lives… and to make a commitment that from this day forward you will walk together.  Both of you will bring new wisdom and strength to your union… as you commit yourselves to a lifetime journey together.   May you look forward to the years ahead in giving, sharing…  and getting to know each other…   and may you open your hearts for this opportunity to love one another.

Marriage is a commitment to life…  to the best that you can find and bring out of each other.  It offers opportunity for sharing and growth… that no other human relationship can equal.   It is a physical and emotional joining…  promised for a lifetime.

Within the circle of your love… marriage will encompass all of life’s most important relationships.   A wife and a husband are each other’s best friend… confidant… lover… teacher… and listener.

When you pledge to love and care for each other in marriage…  you create a spirit that is unique to yourselves…  a spirit which binds you closer than any spoken or written word can ever do...   Marriage is a promise made in your two hearts…  to be nurtured and fulfilled for the rest of your lifetime together.

Now with our prayers… we are here to give the two of you support…  as you freely give yourselves to one another.

Presentation of Rings:

May I have the rings.

Wedding rings are sacred circles, symbolizing eternal love… love that has no beginning and no end.

They are made of precious metal…    reminding us…
what a treasure it is…  to find true love!

They signify to everyone,  your union,  in marriage.

May they always remind you of the promises and commitments that you have made here today.

Groom  place   Bride’s   ring on her finger…

Look into her eyes and repeat after me…

I give you this ring… as a sign of my love… knowing that love…  is precious and fragile… yet strong...  a symbol of the vows…  we have made here today...  You are my beloved… and you are my very best friend.

Bride   place  Groom’s   ring on his finger…

Look into his eyes…  and repeat after me…

I give you this ring… as a sign of my love… knowing that love…  is precious and fragile… yet strong...  a symbol of the vows…  we have made here today...  You are my beloved… and you are my very best friend.

Closing Prayer  (optional)

And now… our Closing Prayer….

Lord God, our heavenly Father, we give thanks for this moment that brings

Groom   and   Bride,

together in marriage.

We recognize and give thanks… for the journeys that have brought them to this time… and we celebrate with them the hopes they hold for their life together.

Lord,  we ask your blessing upon them…  to sustain them through the difficult and uncertain times that come to every relationship.

We pray that they may continue to find…  in each other… the resources which will nurture their marriage.

May they continue to grow together and may their love for one another deepen with the passing years.

Lord,   we give thanks for the nurture and support…
of their family and friends.

Let us… who share this circle of celebration today…
be renewed in our own commitments to one another.

Lord, we ask this in Your name…. Amen!

Letter from Paul to the Corinthians (optional)

Love is patient and kind;

love is not jealous or boastful;

it is not arrogant or rude.

Love does not insist on its own way;

it is not irritable or resentful;

it does not rejoice at wrong,

but rejoices in the right.

Love bears all things,

believes all things,

hopes all things,

endures all things.

Love never ends.

Lord’s Prayer   (optional)

And Now, I invite everyone to join me in reciting
the Lord’s Prayer!

Our  father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come…  Thy will be done…

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread…

and forgive us our trespasses…

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the Kingdom and the Power…

 and the Glory, forever!

Amen!

Pronouncement:

Groom
   and   Bride,

May your life together bring you peace of mind and unbounded, constant love.

May you nurture and strengthen one another at all times.

In the face of challenges, may you have the courage to reveal your inner selves to one another and to call forth what is real and true.

May you support one another with loving kindness!

Most of all… may you have joy, happiness and fully enjoy the miracle of life and the glory of marriage.

Groom   and   Bride,

You have made your sacred vows in the presence of those gathered here today!

Now, with the powers vested in me by the state of Hawaii…  it is my great pleasure to pronounce you…

Husband and Wife.

You may seal your vows with a kiss.

Ladies and Gentlemen…

It is my honor to present to you…
